- ItemActive Filter(2021) Alkouni, Sarah; Abu Ghosh, Noura; Baker, ReemPower electronics play an increasingly important role in the electrified vehicle applications. Power electronics provide compact and highly–efficient solutions to power conversion. As much as this may be simple, power electronics brought many problems to systems; mainly harmonics. These harmonics increase losses which cause distortions in the voltage waveforms; this causes many problems. Harmonic distortion limits a power system’s ability in performing at optimal levels. It creates inefficiencies in the system’s operation due to increased need for power consumption; which results in higher utility costs and heating. One topology that can be used to filter out harmonic distortion is the active power filter. A commercial single–phase inverter will be controlled to generate harmonics needed to make the source signal purely sinusoidal. This project will focus on controlling the active filter using vector control. So, either a microcontroller or a DSP will be used to implement the controller and harmonic extraction process. In addition to the harmonic filtering, the active filter will also be used to inject reactive power and real power if needed using a photovoltaic panel.

- ItemActive Noise Reduction(2009) Ahlam Snouber; Safa Hashaiki; Jamal KhroushehThe idea behind this project is that by picking up extraneous noise with a microphone on a pair of headphones, inverting that noise signal with a circuit, and playing the inverted signal back through the headphones' speakers, the two signals will add together to zero and cancel the noise. The circuit's input is the noise received by the microphones which are mounted on the headphones. The circuit's output is the inverted noise, and this output go to the headphones' speakers along with a "line-in" that could be the music you would usually be playing through your headphones. Noise cancellation is an important concept to the improvement of our hearing as electronic technology (and the hum it makes) becomes more wide-spread. As we found, perfecting a sound-cancelling technique is difficult because of the precision and sensitivity required-- but the benefits of a simply built system like ours are also important. The electronics consist of three op-amp circuits: a non-inverting pre-amp, a phase-inverter, and another inverting amplifier. The noise we hear is in stereo, as are the headphones, so the sound-cancelling headphones have two microphones and two circuits in parallel.
- ItemActive power factor correction using boost converter(2018) jehad, Omar; AbuMassoud, Adnan; radwan, Ala'a; mahmoud, MarwanIn the present situation, the evolution of growing in computers, laptops, uninterrupted power supplies, telecom and biomedical equipment has become overpowering. Hence, the utilization of such equipment results high power consumption and small power density which provided a large market to Distributed Power System (DPS). Power conditioning; typically, rectification is essential usually for electronics equipment. Rectifier behaves as nonlinear load producing non-sinusoidal line current due to the nonlinear input characteristic. The steady growth of use of electronics equipment is become a significant problem as per the line current harmonic is concerned. Their adversative effects on the power system are acknowledged healthy. Hence fore, in three-phase systems, the neutral current magnitude increase and becomes the cause of overheating of transformers and induction motors, as well as the dreadful conditions of system voltage wave forms. There are numbers of international standards to limit the harmonic content, caused due to the line currents of equipment coupled to electricity distribution networks. Accordingly, a reduction in line current harmonics, or Power Factor Correction – PFC is vital. This idea is the inspiration to this research effort. The objective is to improve the power factor nearly unity with minimum Total Harmonic Distortion (THD).

- ItemAnalysis of Electrification of Remote Villages in Palestine(2009) Ayman Shtaya; Qais Samara; Imad IbrikThis study conclude of feasibility study to electrify remote village in Palestine by several methods (PV alone, diesel alone, hybrid PV-diesel, and extension electrical network) and then we choose the most economical method that get the min unit cost $/kwh. This study applied on three types of loads: residential (centralized & decentralized), telecommunication tower (AC, DC, and AC/DC systems)and water pumping (at various percentage of load). This study attend of applying the research in many alternatives for each method (PV: at various tilt angle) to get the best of it. After this study we discover that extension electrical network of the chosen village is less than other alternatives at least by 50% ($/kwh = 0.346- but it is preventive), so we interest on other alternatives for each type of loads: the PV-decentralized systems at tilt angle 20,32 on residential, the hybrid PV-diesel at 32 tilt angle of DC system on telecommunication tower, and diesel system at 100% load on water pumping: are the best alternatives of all.
- ItemANALYSIS OF THE OPERATING CONDITION OF Qalqilia ELECTRICAL NETWORK(2009) Fadi Bassam Sabri Mahmoud; Belal Abed Alkareem Abu Shar; Maher Khammash (Department Head)Due to the Israeli occupation Palestine has not yet a unified power system; the existing networks are local low voltage distribution networks. The main supply for electrical distribution networks in the West Bank and Gaza is the Israeli Electrical Company (IEC).The voltages of the existing distribution networks are 0.4, 6.6, 11, 22 , and 33 KV . IEC supplies electricity to the electrified communities by 22 or 33 KV by overhead lines . Electricity is purchased from IEC and then distributed to the consumers. The results of the survey indicated that 99.6%of households in the Palestinian Territory were connected to the public electricity network in April 2008 , where this percentage was 99.3% during April 2006, and was 97.2% during July 2005, while it was 97.2% during the same month1999 . 0.3% have no electricity services, 0.1% of the households have their own generators. From the results of the survey, it is noted that south of the West Bank has the lowest percentage of households connected to electricity network (99.0%). The situation is different in Gaza Strip which has 99.6% of the households connected to electricity network during April 2006.

- ItemArtificial Arm(2017) Mohammad, Bahir; Salah, AshwasThis project is talking about an artificial arm which is controlled by a human arm. The artificial arm contains motors and a set of cables connecting these motors altogether among all the five fingers. There are 5 flex sensors above the gloves of the human arm. On the artificial arm sideservo motor is attached with three cables; the +5 volts cable, the ground cable and the PWM(square wave signals). The angle of the servo is controlled by the PWM waves, and the range of change in the angle varies from 0-180. The movement of the artificial arm(the angle) depends on the flexion of the human arm(Flex sensor). Flex sensor is simply a changing resistance, and its resistance will change depending on the flexion of the human arm. When i move my arm, then the resistance angle will change. The voltage will go to the controller, and at the final stage; the controller will translate it to a PWM value and sends it to the servo
