- ItemAshajayea After War , a Livable Neighborhood !(2017) Saleh, Raghad; AbdelHamid, AliIn this project, I studied the effects of the war on the Gaza Strip and took Ashajaeya neighborhood as a case study. During the work I focused on several sectors of analysis such as the effects of the war on the housing sector, health, education, culture and agriculture. After analyzing the effects I developed a vision for the reconstruction and development of Shajaiya neighborhood. The project included two parts, the first reconstruction and repair of the destruction caused by the war, and the second part, the development to make it a habitable neighborhood and the construction of new housing and service facilities. The result is an master plan of new and old facilities and schools as well as other sectors and new residential areas, as well as strengthening the industry and infrastructure sector, taking into consideration the culture and nature of the population in the neighborhood and the requirements of the population through communication with them .
- ItemDivided Palestine to Development Planning Regions(2017) Jarrar, Hoda; AbdelHamid, AliIn planning, the operation of determining regions is one of the most important tasks that regional planning considers where development plans depend on, in order to perform its work taking into account the national, regional and local planning levels under the main framework of the country. The importance of this research appears clearly in that it is such an unprecedented step to determine development planning regions in Palestine which depends on national development plans. Because of the lack planning in regional level and non existence of the determinant regions that are built on specific and clear studies, where Palestine was divided recently to regions that are not effective to be development regions. Also, these studies where not based on specific scientific methodologies that take into consideration the variables that effect on the operation of dividing and determining regions. The research started studying the new methods and tools that help in classifying and determining regions using a methodology to construct the National structure to development regions . The research determined the problem and proposed previous Arab and international experiences in this field. It gives a high level to the importance of determining the development regions in the national level eliminating the political considerations. So, as an assumption, there is a full control on land boundaries in 1967. This study was applies and covered on west bank without Gaza strip because it is considered as one region, which is not able to be divided. The research involves studying the factors and variables that effect on determining the most appropriate locations for regions. The methods and theories that are currently applied and used as national standards in dividing and determining the national structure of national development regions were displayed. After that, a recommended methods constructed of natural, economical, social, functional, and structural development indicators was proposed to determine the Palestinian development regions. These methods result in sub-development regions to be combined as finalized development regions. This is done through defining development goals of studied aspects by virtue of the Palestinian development plan (2014-2016). Giographig Information System (GIS) was used in the analysis, , classification and compilation of data and indicators as one of the modern techniques that help solve this problem. In addition, scientific statistical tools are used to study the relationship between these indicators. This research has resulted in put an integrated mechanism to complete the process of identifying the regional units within a vision consistent with the Palestinian national development vision using modern methods and a methodology that can be used in determining the planning units at different levels. Also, As a result of this research, Palestine was devided into five development planning regions, the northern region includes the governorates of (Jenin, Nablus, Tulkarm, Qalqiliya, Salfit, Nablus) , the middle region includes the governorates of( Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Jericho), the southern region includes the governorates (Bethlehem, Hebron) and the costel region includes all the governorates of the Gaza Strip
- ItemPlanning and Designing A Solar Neighborhood(2016) Hamdan, Fida'; AbdelHamid, AliRecently, the world is moving towards the Promotion of Renewable energy use and mainly on solar energy. And solar energy is the most important because it is easier to use, is available to everyone and can be obtained simply. In addition to the possibility of utilization in other ways for power generation and other uses. But for the exploitation this energy at the city level, it requires many changes in the morphology of the city and the design. So, this project will take in consideration the factors that affect the designing and planning the urban scale to make it depending on the solar energy. This project will depend on the analyzing of the main factors that affect the planning and designing a solar neighborhood, so it depends mainly at topography and solar analysis, then starting the planning process deepening on the analysis, so to start this stage it will depend on shadow analysis to maximize the concept of solar access at winter and minimize the sun shadows at summer. So the project starts with attempts and Experiences on built-up environment to reach to the best orientation from the buildings and streets, all planning and designing stage will depend on this phase of shadow analysis.at the design stage also solar aspects will be taken into account, at designing of buildings, parking's, street lightings, solar park and the green areas. Also, the project suggest to use the solar cells at the neighborhood, these cells use to produce energy used at the neighborhood , also use vegetation and shading to control the shadow at summer . Also, the project will have regulation result from the shadow analysis, these regulation will be used as guidelines for designing and planning urban areas that have the same analysis results. Finally, the project will introduce Final master plan for the solar neighborhood that explain all the results from the planning and designing depending on the solar access. And the final output will be Master plan , detailed plans for area's used solar cells ,building regulations depending on solar access. Applying this project to Palestinian cities in general will solve a lot of problems related to energy and the lack of its sources, and provides the amounts of energy that make these cities rely on the production of the necessary energy autonomously and without need for importing it from abroad by Israel ways, and get rid of the pressure of Isra'il on the Palestinians in the field of energy and electricity. And the importance of implementation of such projects was increased in the Gaza Strip where the show continued uninterrupted power supply and the problems related to it, and the hard life of the people of the strip due to the prevention of supplying the power by Israel. And therefore it must adopt such projects by the Ministry of Planning and Authority Energy and the environment for a better future. Also applying this project will offer warmth at winter , cool at summer , clear air, reduce fuel consumption and increase energy production to use at the region . So, at this project it will be planned and designed to apply at a neighborhood scale, to make it clearer and to understand the process. The project can be applied at most of locations at Palestine , but we chose a location for the project for many criteria will explained after studying the selected site .so most locations have high solar radiation values and solar access so , it can be applied at most locations and at all uses .
- ItemRegional Planning of Tulkarm Governorate(2017) Saleh, Saed; AbdelHamid, AliThis study aimed at anayiztion the situation in the Tulkarm on the level of urban, social and economic ... etc , In order to prepare a planning and planning policy in the governorate to promote it and contribute to the preparation of a comprehensive regional plan . In particular in order to identify the most important possibilities and resources that can be invested and strengthened, and also to identify problems in the governorate. To achieve the objectives of the study, the student followed the descriptive method of analysis, based on the research and studies of the governorate and regional planning, through a proper planning methodology based on diagnosis and analysis of the status to reach the appropriate directions and development possibilities. The most important results were: 1. The possibility of investing in the agricultural sector, which is a high proportion of the economic sector in the governorate because of the existence of fertile agricultural land . 2. The possibility of enhancing the level of services in the governorate and promoting them in order to reach the principle of decentralization. 3. Possibility of investment in the industrial sector due to the existence of craft places that need to be reorganized and developed.
- ItemStrategic Methodology in Urban Upgrading for Palestinian Refugees Camps. Ein Beit al-Ma' camp as a case study(2017) Obaid, Reevan; AbdelHamid, AliBelieving that defending for refugees’ right of decent living until their return to their origin lands is a duty for all of us, in accordance with our specialization and possibilities. This project has two main objectives: the first is to improve the urban environment in the camp, and the second one is to develop future scenarios for buildings uses when refugees return to their origin lands. So Al Ein Camp - Nablus City was selected as a case study. The strategic planning stages were followed in the diagnosis and analysis. One of the most important points that must be highlighted. That the relevant bodies to provide the basic services of the camp have always been aimed at improving the level of services in the refugee camps, in addition to improving the standard of living and producing researches to implement development projects. The population of the camp is 8243 person (according to UNRWA statistics 2016), where the population increased from 2500 person in the year of establish to 8243 person on the same land, which is just 45 dunums! This led a dramatic rising in the general population density from 55.5 to 133 person / dunums. And migration of the camp residents to live outside in the surrounding areas of ِAl-Ma'ajeen, Zawata and Beit Iba searching for better residential environment. It also noted the high poverty rate in the camp, which reached 33.1%, 18.7% under the poverty line as well as the high unemployment rate which reached 25.5%. And the percentage of the bad physical condition of the camp buildings is 22% of total buildings. 21% of the total population of the camp live in bad physical buildings. suffering from high dependency ratio (1.04), which means that almost every worker has the burden to support a person who does not work compared to the non-bad physical buildings with a dependency rate of (0.6)" two worker people support one person who does not work". The average monthly income in these buildings was approximately 2,000 NIS (construction workers (46%)), while in non-bad buildings the average income is (2200), in the West Bank (2,500 NIS) per month. According to the analysis the current services in the camp it is found a significant shortage. Whether the camp is considered a residential neighborhood or even a part of the Nablus master plan or even taking into consideration the age groups prevailing in the camp. This shortage in the most types of the services, residential, educational, administrative, cultural, commercial areas and mosques. Absence of recreational services inside the camp. A plan was proposed to meet the needs of the population of different services, focusing on the physical, services and environmental aspects. It accommodates the increase of the natural population and serves them with educational, recreational and cultural services through several improvement projects with their spatial location. Also a scenario was made for using the buildings in the camp after residents returning to their own lands. This scenario proposed the uses by preserving the Cultural Heritage of the buildings and in appropriate way to make a harmony with the surrounding.
