The first part of this report provides a general view of transit oriented development and transit oriented communities. summarizes TOD definition, history, standards, principles, and benefits and bad impacts. It also provides some information on public transportation in general and in Palestine in specific. Moreover, it describes the planning and design of a transit oriented community with its components and features. Planning and design includes both detailed and general guideline. The second part of the project provides a full comprehensive diagnosis for the city of Nablus by studying the current situation of transportation with the importance of the city. The diagnosis provides information about the importance of Nablus city and its effects and influence on West Bank. Also, it provides information about roads, topography, land use, and demography. After the diagnosis, analysis was made to find the shortage in service and the needs. A short strategic plan that provides the main aims, goals, and strategies was prepared. Its main needs are : Equity, Stewardship, Integration, Accountability, Residential Diversity, Mix of Commercial, Usable Open Space, Complete Streets, and Intermodal Connectivity. The resulted issues that need to be solved are: A need for traffic calming and safety requirements in residential areas. Low accessibility levels between residential neighborhood. Air and noise pollution on main roads. A shortage in parking. The diversity in vehicles classification on each route. A need for various routes for regional services. High traffic congestion on main connecting roads. Streets landscaping needs. The unsuitable terminals locations. City topography transportation issues. The absence of public transportation. And Car dependency. The vision statement is : Vision statement: A PROSPEROUS SUSTAINABLE MODEL FOR DEVELOPING A TRANSIT ORIENTED CITY. After the strategic analysis, a transit plan was prepared by preparing many ideas and choosing the most suitable one. The transit plan was prepared to achieve high accessibility that the residents and the un-residents do not need to ride many transit modes. The plan consists of bus routes (main routes that lie from east to west to serve main areas on Rafedia street and Haifa and Faisal streets, local streets that serve local residential areas) that arrive to main areas in the city with three main routes and other local routes that are connected with the main routes. Each route has specific stops with timetables that show the times that each bus arrive the stops. Main routes are divided into two types, some stop only on main stops and others stop every 700 meters. Other than the master plan, there are the terminals for buses, the project also provides detailed designs for these terminals with specifying the roads that each route use to reach the terminals. The outside terminals are also planned in the given places by Nablus municipality with the roads that each route have. This project can convert Nablus city from car dependency to public transportation dependency by providing the ease of movement, each person can ride the nearest local bus to reach the main routes that reach all main activities such as Najah Academy, Old campus, Hijjawi college, and other activities. However, the project does not only focus on transit, but also it provides a full view on the high quality of life enhancement. This is provided by preparing a detailed plan for the central business district. The CBD`s plan changed some roads from vehicular roads into pedestrian roads and gave some roads new movement direction. Pedestrian zones are the focus point in the CBD planning to make it more pedestrian friendly by providing special roads for pedestrian and lanes for bicycles.

- ItemPlanning and Designing A Solar Neighborhood(2016) Hamdan, Fida'; AbdelHamid, AliRecently, the world is moving towards the Promotion of Renewable energy use and mainly on solar energy. And solar energy is the most important because it is easier to use, is available to everyone and can be obtained simply. In addition to the possibility of utilization in other ways for power generation and other uses. But for the exploitation this energy at the city level, it requires many changes in the morphology of the city and the design. So, this project will take in consideration the factors that affect the designing and planning the urban scale to make it depending on the solar energy. This project will depend on the analyzing of the main factors that affect the planning and designing a solar neighborhood, so it depends mainly at topography and solar analysis, then starting the planning process deepening on the analysis, so to start this stage it will depend on shadow analysis to maximize the concept of solar access at winter and minimize the sun shadows at summer. So the project starts with attempts and Experiences on built-up environment to reach to the best orientation from the buildings and streets, all planning and designing stage will depend on this phase of shadow analysis.at the design stage also solar aspects will be taken into account, at designing of buildings, parking's, street lightings, solar park and the green areas. Also, the project suggest to use the solar cells at the neighborhood, these cells use to produce energy used at the neighborhood , also use vegetation and shading to control the shadow at summer . Also, the project will have regulation result from the shadow analysis, these regulation will be used as guidelines for designing and planning urban areas that have the same analysis results. Finally, the project will introduce Final master plan for the solar neighborhood that explain all the results from the planning and designing depending on the solar access. And the final output will be Master plan , detailed plans for area's used solar cells ,building regulations depending on solar access. Applying this project to Palestinian cities in general will solve a lot of problems related to energy and the lack of its sources, and provides the amounts of energy that make these cities rely on the production of the necessary energy autonomously and without need for importing it from abroad by Israel ways, and get rid of the pressure of Isra'il on the Palestinians in the field of energy and electricity. And the importance of implementation of such projects was increased in the Gaza Strip where the show continued uninterrupted power supply and the problems related to it, and the hard life of the people of the strip due to the prevention of supplying the power by Israel. And therefore it must adopt such projects by the Ministry of Planning and Authority Energy and the environment for a better future. Also applying this project will offer warmth at winter , cool at summer , clear air, reduce fuel consumption and increase energy production to use at the region . So, at this project it will be planned and designed to apply at a neighborhood scale, to make it clearer and to understand the process. The project can be applied at most of locations at Palestine , but we chose a location for the project for many criteria will explained after studying the selected site .so most locations have high solar radiation values and solar access so , it can be applied at most locations and at all uses .

After the that I set the goals and vision for the project and work plan for the design of the project. The final stage of the project has been designed so that you project you beginning to distribute zones & ratios spaces then you distribute the street network and the distribution of housing units in the project and the services needed by individuals within the project.
