Sustainable Rural Development of the West Middle Jordan Valley

Abstract
Sustainable rural development is one of the most important ways to improve the Palestinian reality, with all Israeli obstacles and challenges and its control of natural and human resources. This study dealt with a comprehensive study of the west middle Jordan Valley (the west of the central Ghor) in terms of its geographical, social, economic and service characteristics, It also addressed the possibilities and opportunities in the region. This region was selected mainly because of that all the Preliminary field studies and surveys showed the economic and social importance of this area, its natural characteristics, geographical location and the existence of large agricultural areas with high value. The main objective of this research is to develop appropriate strategies for integrated rural development, It aims to develop the region, enhancing the steadfastness and stability of the population in their land, attracting investment to it, exploiting its potential for economic to raise the standard of living of the citizens, improve socio-economic wellbeing and improve the level of services to achieve desired rural change through organizing the available resources To the possible extent. The results of the study showed that there is a possibility and urgent need to raise the standard of living, demographic and attract investment, and that the study area has the potential to invest heavily in the field of agriculture, entertainment, and to adopt a set of strategies over the medium and long term nearly 16 years to develop the agricultural manufacturing sector, improve the level of services, meet the needs of the population and rural planning and organization. Finally, the study was confirmed the importance of joint planning to support and protect the marginalized areas and which classified as c areas according to Oslo to the intensification of the Palestinian presence and helps in confronting the Israeli challenges.
