Many people around the world are dying due to air pollution, with an estimated 7 million people dying due to poor air quality Palestine is one of the countries that have not escaped this global problem, despite its small area and limited capacity, where some studies have found a noticeable pollution on air quality. City centers are witnessing a noticeable increase in air pollution rates, and perhaps the most prominent thing that affects the air quality in them is the high traffic congestion, as well as the population increase and its increase in movement and activities that negatively affect the air quality Perhaps the most prominent of these pollutants that affect air quality PM2.5 are very small particles circulating in the air, with a diameter of 2.5 micrometers or less, and have noticeable effects on human health, as they cause heart and respiratory diseases that may lead to death in some cases This project includes talk about air quality in West Bank cities, namely Jenin, Nablus and Tulkarm, as well as one of the villages that is Anza Village. In this project, we found PM2.5 values over 24 continuous days, using the AirU sensor, which measures the PM2.5 amount every minute and accurately After studying and analyzing the results, it became clear to us that the Jenin region is the most polluted area with PM2.5 particles, where the average percentage of these particles during the study period was 40.05 , followed by Nablus at a rate of 32.28 , followed by Tulkarm at a rate of 29.87 , followed by the village of Anza at a rate of 27.0 And after studying the effect of some weather factors and natural factors : wind speed, the effect of humidity, temperature, elevation of place and precipitation We get the following results about the Wind Speed, there is a direct relationship between it and the pollutant concentration, and the relationship is inverse As for relative humidity, there is a direct relationship between it and the pollutant concentration, And a positive relationship As for the region’s elevation , there is no relationship between it and the concentration of pollutants. Rather, it affects the difference in temperature day and night during the summer and winter. As a result, temperature has no clear relationship with the high or low concentration of pollutants As for the effect of rain, it was evident, as the rate of pollution on rainy days was less than on non-rainy days in the three cities
- ItemThe possibility of transforming a traditional existing building into a sustainable building(2020) Baraa Surakji; Bara’a Shaer; Abd Alhaleem KhaderThe Palestinian society is one of the most needed communities to protect their environment oppressed by the Israeli occupation as it is the most need to reduce water in its life activities due to its lack of control over its natural resources. In addition it urgently needs to find alternatives to energy sources for the same reason hence this project came up to the idea of looking at Green sustainable Buildings. Therefore, this project studies the nature of green and sustainable buildings and the difference between the two terms. It also highlights the systems used in these buildings and their impact on the environment and society. Perhaps the most important goal of this project is the possibility of converting a traditional existing building into an environmentally friendly building. There are many challenges that this project faced, including choosing the building that will be retrofitted , as there are many conditions and requirements that must be available in the building in order to be retrofitted , such as providing enough space around the building and also that the area of the roof should meet the purpose that some systems need. Therefore, the Faculty Of Physical Education building at An- Najah National University was chosen for this purpose, as a system for collecting gray water and then reused it for toilet flushing will be designed and another system to collect rain water from the roof of the building. In addition, this project examines one of the most important systems used in green buildings, the green roof system, in terms of the benefits and features that this system adds to the building, system components and cost.
