Abstract
The means of aviation has become a necessity for any country in the world, as it is the
gateway that overlooks the rest of the world. Palestine is one of the few countries that does
not have the right to fly due to the presence of the Zionist occupation on its land. This matter
prompted and provided us with the determination to establish an international airport in our
country.
This project aims to rehabilitate and expand Gaza International Airport in order to enhance
transportation in Palestine. Air is one of the fastest means of transportation. Airports have
become also as platforms that generate revenues from aviation, air and commercial activities.
Gaza International Airport, located in the southeastern part of Gaza Strip, was operated in
1997. The airport gave the citizens of Gaza Strip better access to the world outside their
narrow confines, but the long-awaited airport didn't last long though. It was destroyed by the
Israeli occupation authorities in 2001.
In view of the restrictions imposed by the occupation on the Palestinians on travel and
movement and their impact on the Palestinian economy, the rehabilitation of the airport will
make a difference in the lives of the Palestinians. Initially, the airport was assessed in terms
of its compliance with the safety standards and requirements of the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) and all data necessary to forecast the demand for the airport was
collected. The airside facilities of Gaza International Airport include runways, taxiways
system, apron area, and the terminal building are planned and designed using (FAA)
regulations.
Gaza airport is developed in three phases through 2027-2034, 2034-2042 and 2042-2050. At
the end of the last phase the airport is proposed to have 5.7 million passengers and a single
runways with a length of 3.6 Km
