Abstract
At the current time, Palestine and all other countries are witnessing a rapid growth in construction,
as there is a permanent need to establish facilities, whether residential, commercial or even
industrial facilities. It is noticeable that there are many tenders for the construction of commercial,
residential, and many other facilities whatever their type. Where the awarding party for the bid,
whether it is a private or governmental company offers the required bid. Some of contracting
companies estimate the cost and time to implement the project, increase their profit, and then apply
for the bid. Usually, the price is the main criterion in evaluating the bidders, as the least expensive
is the one who takes the bid. This project is about estimating the price and time for a bid funded
by Nablus municipality for the establishment of a school called Raesat Arafat. The school is
located in Nablus city, opposite to Al-Salahiya School and consists of three floors with a total area
of 2170 square meters.
This graduation project is about estimating the quantities of all construction materials such as
concrete, steel and any other materials to be used in performing the work. And then to estimate
the duration that needed to construct Raesat Arafat school and finally the cost of construction of
this school. The quantities were resulted by building a 3D model for the school using Revit
software while the cost for the whole project was estimated using Primavera software. Revit
software can estimate the quantities of concrete and steel for all construction elements that entered
into this software. By knowing the quantities and productivity rates for each activity, the duration
for each activity was estimated. The duration resulted was compared with the duration written in
the bid document. Also, the total cost of the project was known by estimating the resources needed
for each activity.
The project start date was 27/9/2020, the duration for executing the work was estimated to be 233
days while Nablus municipality requires the project to be finished within 240 days which is less
than the required.
The total cost for the project was estimated to be 2,092,840.42 NIS. And the total price for the
project was estimated 2,406,766.50 NIS. Nablus municipality was estimated the price of this bid
to be 2,343,722.00 NIS. So, the difference between the two prices is estimated to be 63,044.50
