Nablus is one of the largest cities in the West Bank. It is considered one of the most important commercial and economical centers, with a rich culture and has the largest university in the West Bank. With these facts, it’s important to concentrate on the transportation system in the city especially on the Public transport (PT) issues and options for its improvements. The existing PT isn’t really that efficient, it depends on (4seats) shared taxis as the main mode, considering that some of the used vehicles are old, which affect the comfort of passengers, and considered fuel consumers. Moreover, (4seats) vehicles are not efficient for a system that has thousands of users. This study aimed to analyze and evaluate the existing of PT system, then put alternatives and solutions to improve it and to increase its efficiency. Methodology of the study is based mainly on quantitative and analytical methods using field survey of PT. It is based on previous studies that have been done by previous graduated student, available statistics in municipality and statistical centers, interviews with the drivers and managers of bus companies, and field counting. The main data that has been collected is: number of main routes, number of vehicles and type of modes in each route, number of drivers, and costs, considering the ticket fees, depreciation and operational costs. Then, a questionnaire was used to evaluate the users’ views and perspectives. After studying and evaluating the current situation of PT system, some alternative modes were reviewed, depending mainly on the replacement of the existing system of PT; vans (7seats), normal buses, and trolleybuses and their expenses and effects were studied. Then some different combinations of them considering the (4seats) were designed and different scenarios were done; each scenario has been studied financially, socially, environmentally, and compared to the current situation and other scenarios.en_US
