Abstract
Mechatronics engineering combines techniques and technology involving principles of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and computer engineering to provide solutions to problems involving the life and safety of human beings. Robotic Automation is favored since human eyes are unable to constantly distinguish colors which will eventually reduce work efficiency, Robots are nowadays most often used which gives the same result each time as opposed to the human. Object sorting depending on the colors is costless, fastest, and most valuable in terms of saving money and labor. To sort objects depending on their color in quick time also the weight is greater than what a human can carry. By implementing the project we are trying to reduce human labor by making the work automatic by using a robotic arm, thus making work simple and reduce time. The speed and the accuracy of the sorting processes are increased. The cost is considerably reduced. We are making use of the robotic arm which is capable of detecting and placing in the specified object based on the RGB color. A single camera is used to capture images to be processed, Image processing in today’s world grabs massive attentions as it leads to possibilities of broadening application in many fields of high technology, our project consists of four integrated stations of identification, processing, selection, and sorting with a new image processing feature, Image processing procedure senses the objects in an image captured in real-time by a webcam and then identifies color and information out of it. This information is processed by image processing for the pick-and-place mechanism. The Project deals with an automated material handling system. It aims in classifying the colored objects by color, which are coming on the conveyor by picking and placing the objects in their respective pre-programmed place. The project involves a camera that senses the object’s color and sends the signal to the microcontroller. The microcontroller sends a signal to the circuit which drives the various motors of the robotic arm to grip the object and place it in the specified location. Based upon the color detected, the robotic arm moves to the specified location releases the object and comes back to the original position. The main aim of the project is to make a robot that has the capability to pick a pre-specified object and place it in separate divisions based on color. Raspberry Pi has 8 | P a g e found its way in many useful implementations in robotic systems. The python code has been formulated for creating a robotic arm with image processing and to adjust servo motor position manually. For industrial purposes, the robotic arm can help to separate the object based on color with a good frequency.
