dc.description.abstract | This project studies the development of new concepts of an online supermarket in Palestine. The concepts based on building warehouses that contain a wide variety of products including food, beverages, dairy products, snacks and treats, meat section, vegetables, fruits, and household cleaners. This warehouse is digitalized and the customers can make their orders through a mobile application that allows the user to choose his groceries and request them to be delivered in a specific period of time. In this project, the spotlight was on the existing supermarkets and their mechanism of operation, how the idea of an online supermarket in the world began, and the method of payment and delivery for both the regular supermarket and the online supermarket. In addition, we conducted a questionnaire to understand the views of individuals and the extent of their acceptance of the concept, if it was created, whether or not they would use it and we researched some of the largest supermarkets in Palestine-Nablus to find out if they would support the idea of developing an online application next to their own private supermarket. Through a questionnaire of customers and employees, we have noticed many of the problems that customers face when they visit a supermarket, such as its location, lack of parking lots for cars, or their need to visit several places to get their daily groceries. As for merchants, choosing the right place for a supermarket in vital and spacious areas at a high cost is the most difficult while providing high service and the same quality. Therefore, through this project, we plan to establish a new business model in order to develop a new concept of online supermarkets in Palestine-Nablus. One of our priorities will be how the business model can minimize production costs in comparison to the traditional supermarket, and how the online supermarket can be built and connected to a distribution system at competitive prices. Consequently, after taking into account the unforeseen circumstances such as the Corona pandemic, bad weather conditions, or customers' preoccupation in their daily lives, the tendency of many people to buy through the Internet has increased, and some supermarkets have created their own method. However, still a wide range of customers still hesitant to buy through the internet. This project will study these problems to avoid it and create new mechanisms to be more effective, comfort, easy for users which encourage them to use an online supermarket. | en_US |
