dc.description.abstractFreedom of movement, stability, and continuity of land, these are completely disappeared from the life of all Palestinians. The Israeli occupation has implemented travel restrictions on Palestinians for decades, whether between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, to Jerusalem or abroad. The restrictions on movement also bear implications for the Palestinian economy and its development potential. The most pressing and urgent need for Palestine to get rid of the occupation restrictions is having an airport within its lands and under the control of the Palestinians. This project aims to establish the criteria for selecting an international Palestinian airport from many aspects such as the site, the general plan, the overall design of the proposed airport. One proposed alternative for the Palestinian airport is located at Al-Auja village- Jericho; which will be adopted in this project. The airside facilities of Al- Auja International Airport include runways, taxiways system, apron area, and the terminal building will be planned and designed using the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. The first step in the project was the collection of all data needed for the demand forecasting, runway orientation configuration, and the terminal building area. The development of Al-Auja International Airport is supposed to be in three phases to minimize the cost of the project. At the end of the last phase which is through 2038-2045, the airport is proposed to have two parallel runways with a length of 3.6 Km; oriented 180° - 360°, and a two-floor terminal building with a gross area of 93,730 m2. All airport facilities were designed in terms of geometric and structural design, considering all the FAA regulations. The total cost was estimated and approximated to about 350 million dollars by the end of Phase I, and a total cost of 635 million dollars by the end of Phase III, including earthworks, terminal building, structural pavements, lighting, marking, and signage.en_US
