PV Pannel Hardware Data-logger

Abstract

PV systems require continuous maintenance to ensure maximum performance. This requires continuous monitoring and data logging. Current PV data log- gers are either expensive, not fully automated, or do not log all needed data. Our project aims to develop a relatively low-cost PV data logger that enables the automated logging of all the needed data related to a PV panel. The data that will be collected include irradiance using pyranometer sensor, PV body temperature using type K Thermocouple sensor, PV current, PV voltage, hu- midity, and pressure. The data need to be stored along with the date and time which requires the use of RTC (real time clock) and SD card module. The auto- mated logger should have the ability to store data o_ine and online on a remote database when there is a WIFI connection. In order for the automated logger to measure data correctly it must perform an automated real-time matching with the load. This will be done by controlling a customized DC-DC converter using a digital potentiometer. Moreover, in order to make the measurements without interfering with the PV output power, the system will run on a rechargeable battery that will charge using a separate solar panel.
