Soil reinforcement is one of the new technologies in constructing retaining wall. It considers the most common method in constructing retaining walls in developed countries. The modern concept of soil reinforcement was pioneered at a wide scale by Casagrande and the French engineer Vidal in the 1960s. Present use Vidal's concepts in soil reinforcement till today in engineers constructing retaining structures. These concepts introduced many ways of reinforcing soil that led later to the development of Mechanically Stabilized Retaining Walls. Dams, bridge abutments, embankments and retaining walls are all examples of structures that use reinforced earth concept in construction. The main task of this project is to design a selected retaining wall using soil reinforcement and to compare between the traditional construction method and this modern technology in designing of retaining walls.en_US
