Abstract
The primary objective of this commercial building redesign is to establish a dynamic workspace that not only fulfills the essential operational needs but also integrates thoughtful design elements to enhance productivity, safety, and overall business success. The redesign will encompass various critical aspects, including the implementation of robust security measures to safeguard employees and assets, optimizing spatial layout for efficiency and functionality, and providing amenities that foster a collaborative and innovative work environment. Ultimately, the goal is to create a commercial building that not only facilitates business operations but also enriches the professional experience of its occupants, promoting success and well-being within the workplace. • To design integrally taking into consideration, architectural, environmental, structural, economical, and safety aspects of the building. To attain such objectives for a commercial building, a structured methodology will be employed. The process begins with thorough site analysis and extensive literature review, gathering insights from educational resources and expert opinions in the field of commercial real estate. Following this, a series of steps will be delineated to realize a fully integrated design. Firstly, attention will be given to enhancing the architectural aspects, focusing on space dimensions, distribution, and orientation, utilizing tools like AutoCAD to refine the layout efficiently. Subsequently, the environmental considerations will be meticulously examined, assessing factors such as topography and neighboring structures to optimize natural lighting and shading, thus ensuring maximum comfort for occupants. This assessment will be validated using advanced software like Revit. Additionally, structural checks and analyses will be conducted to guarantee the safety and stability of the building, adhering to established standards and regulations stability throughout programs like SAAP and Etabs. Mechanical systems like HVAC, water supply and pipe distributions, will be taken into consideration to avoid any conflict with other systems, and achieve fully integral design. Then, electrical systems will be proposed including cabling and lighting distribution, power systems, and control panels which is achievable by using the DIALUX program. Last but not least, safety measurements like fire exits, firefighting systems, escape routes, and alarm systems will be included in the aspect of safety design. In conclusion, an integrated design will be achieved following the standard of a commercial building, using various designing applications: • AutoCAD, will be used to design the building in 2D to confirm if the standards and regulations are met. • Revit. Will be used to view the building in 3D which gives a different perspective of the design. Also used in some environmental checks. • SAP, ETABS, SAFE, will be used to check if the building is structurally stable.
