This project was concerned about structural design for a suggested college building, which will be located in Nablus city. It has three floors, with a total area of about 1500 m2 for each floor. It consists of four symmetric separated parts, three of them are for class rooms, and the fourth is a laboratory building, in addition, it has a theater, a library, a restaurant, an administration building, and a water tank. It also has about sixteen classes per floor with a capacity of 24 students per class. This building is going to be designed to serve our knowledge and experience, so as to be familiar with these types of constructions. This project covered a three-dimensional model using a modern computer program such as CSI Etabs 2016, which in turn has done a structural analysis using finite element method, by which a complete verification process followed. Moreover, the project also covered a verification research study that belongs to non-structural block walls according of its behavior under static and lateral loads, in which, a Finite Element Model (FEM) was prepared using ABAQUS software, then, some mechanical properties was produced as a result of FEM analysis. The main object of this project was to increase both of theoretical and practical knowledge in structural analysis and designing field, in addition, to improve analysis and design engineering sense. The first stage of the project was to put the main assumptions and theory of structural systems going to be used, which includes the characteristics of structural and non-structural materials that have been used, the codes and standards, which are: IBC-2012, ASCE7-10 and ACI 318-14. In addition, list of several types of loads that have been taken into consideration, e.g. gravity loads, seismic loads, soil loads and wind loads. Moreover, a preliminary design has followed, for various structural elements. Then, a three-dimensional model was built, and analyzed on for both static and dynamic loads, in addition to that, the results have been verified so as to ensure that the input data and assumptions are fine.en_US
