Instead of only relying on technical upgrades, the sluggish and inadequate environmental efficiency of universities attracts researchers' consideration for behavioral alteration in workers. Centered on the Ability-Motivation-Opportunity (AMO) theory, the goal of this research is first to investigate the effect of Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) practices on academic staff's organizational citizenship actions towards the environment (OCBE) (green skills building practices, green motivation enhancing practices, and green employee engagement practices) and its effect on the environmental performance. Second, between each of the Green HRM practices and environmental performance, the intervention impact of OCBE is measured. Data from numerous universities in Palestine, interviews and questionnaires were obtained using a mixed methodology. A standardized questionnaire was used among the universities' academic personnel using quantitative analysis design. To pick the respondents from the universities, convenience sampling was used and the Partial Least Squares (PLS) modeling technique was used to evaluate the results. The originality of this research lies in shining light on Green HRM practices in Palestine's higher education sector and highlighting the crucial role of the environmentally sustainable behavior of academic employees in enhancing a university's environmental performance.en_US
