Abstract
The study aimed to diagnose the role of the administrations of the Palestinian universities in the transition towards sustainability, and to identify the most important challenges, and to identify the administrative requirements necessary to activate the role of the administrations of the Palestinian universities in the transition towards sustainability, and creating a suggested perspective for the role of the administrations of the Palestinians universities in the transition towards academic, research and social sustainability. The two descriptive approaches were used: documentary and survey. The population of the study consisted of (30) employees in An-Najah National University; and they have been chosen using the simple random method, and the study tool (questionnaire) was conducted on them in the second semester of the academic year 2019/2020. The most important findings of the study are: the role played by the administrations of An-Najah National University in the field of the transition towards sustainability is moderate, it needs more efforts and development, and that the most important challenges facing the administrations of An-Najah National University: the weakness of incentives, and the large administrative burden, and the restrictions imposed by the laws and regulations at the University. The most important recommendations of the study are: the establishment of a special administration for sustainability, adopting a comprehensive approach to the transition towards sustainability, taking advantage of global indicators and systems in the transformation of universities towards sustainability, and disseminating and documenting the best experiences, practices and applications of sustainability in education, training, awareness and enlightenment, Organizing and hosting research activities, conferences, seminars, workshops and scientific meetings related to sustainability, and providing training opportunities for students to contribute to serving and educating the community about the issues and challenges of sustainability
