Abstract
In the construction industry, there are many systems that are used in the slab systems. In this project, the systems were analyzed to decide which of them the most economical system is. The project is about a residential building, which is located in Salfit City in Palestine. This building, which was constructed in 2017, consists of a ground floor, one top floor and staircase with a total area of 385 m2. The ground floor consists of three bed rooms, kitchen, three bath rooms, entrance and living room with an area of 182.5 m2.The first floor is the same as the ground floor with an additional eating room, so the total area of the first floor is 187.8 m2. Finally, the staircase with an area of 14.7 m2. Structural model had been analyzed and designed under a static load by using computer software (ETABS v.16) and the results were checked by hand calculations. In addition, AutoCAD was used for the drawing sections and details. The structural elements were designed as reinforced concrete members according to strength and serviceability criteria as specified in ACI 318-08. In this project, a 3D model had been designed with different slab systems, solid, ribbed, and flat plate slab. After that, quantity survey and cost estimate were done for each system, and a bill of quantity was constructed for each of them. Finally, the most economical system is selected, it is The Flat Plate Slab System.
