Abstract
The number of orphans in Palestine is relatively large compared with other Arab countries because of the ongoing Israeli wars and attacks waged by the occupation on the Palestinian people over the past decades, and the increasing number of orphans in Palestine is indicated by statistics. There are nearly 200000 orphans in the West Bank and Gaza strip, about 3% of the children in Palestine who are at the age of [0-17] years are orphans.[1] As orphans are a vulnerable part of the society, they need care and help to be raised in a positive atmosphere and normal circumstances that is why the plan would be to design a suitable residence for them. This idea has humanitarian objectives, where this group of people are socially, psychologically, and educationally marginalized. The aims of this project are to take care of orphans from 0-17 years in west bank generally and especially in Nablus. The orphanage will not only provide the residence with shelter or important daily needs, but it will enable the orphans to develop the various talents they have, which will result in the quality of production. In addition, this in turn changes the philosophy of an orphanage in that it is not only a shelter but also an incubator for both the body and mind. It will be a good place to develop their talents and artistic abilities. Many different architectural, structural, mechanical and environmental criteria must be balanced in order to provide high quality and comfortable building. As a part of the building will be providing them with such needs to develop their talents with the non- curricular activities. This research aims to design an orphanage in Nablus. To achieve this objective.
