Abstract
The purpose of this project is to design and implement a smart shopping cart which will act like a personal assistant in a supermarket. It will make shopping fun, informative and will provide supermarket customers with a new and easy shopping experience. We aim at designing the smart shopping cart with the following services: the cart will walk in front of the user around the supermarket depending on his hand movement rather than pushing it . The cart has to be secure as well and detect obstacles in its path. The other service is the cart will allow the user to scan his/her products by himself/herself, it will be connected to a screen to show the price for each item and calculate the bill, and this service will solve the problem of waiting in a long queue to check-out the shopping items. Also our smart shopping cart will give the customer the ability to keep their budget, by giving a notification or alert when he Exceed the budget he entered at beginning of the process . On other side , the system design also ensures detection of cases of deception invoked by dishonest customers, like detect if any product is added to the cart without scanning by using a weight sensor and other cases, and detecting the case if the customer tried to get it away from the supermarket. Also we aimed in our design that the customer will be comfort and relax in case if something goes wrong while using our cart, he/she can press a button which will give a notification to supermarket owner ,or in case the cart lost its way from its owner . To make our system complete, we aim in our design to take benefit of the calculated bill by sending the ID of the cart and the bill to the cashier who you will pay for and to reserve the right of the customer ,if he forget any product he paid for in the cart ,the cart will notify him/her.
