Abstract
This project is design of pedestrian bridge at Al-Academia Street-Nablus. This project is aimed to minimize congestion of pedestrians at the new campus at An-Najah National University, which is a main arterial for the city of Nablus. It has a high congestion of cars. Also, crossing by foot can not only be challenging, but it can be dangerous for students and regular people. So, it is suggested to design pedestrian bridge taking into consideration the engineering standards and realistic constraints. It was suggested three pedestrian bridges; one of them is steel pedestrian bridge and the others are concrete pedestrian bridges. In this project, many things have been done like: find the preliminary dimensions, find loads including live; wind load and seismic according to practice codes of pedestrian bridge, choose the structural design system, design pedestrian bridge with all its parts (Deck, stairs, footings, columns, members and connections). The design has been done according to specifications and criteria. The models were designed using ETABS16.0.0 and ETABS 16.0.3, then compared with the results from manual calculations and checks results. This project includes the analysis and design for essential elements of the building, such as: slabs, beams, and footings. Also, this project contains the analysis and design of other elements of the building, such as shear walls, and steel members.
