It is the tool through which a society achieves its goals of urban and rural development. However, it is becoming more complex because the complexity of the construction process itself and the large number of parties involved including clients, users, designers, regulators, contractors, suppliers and others. This research is conducted to determine the causes of construction business failure and to investigate the severity of these causes from the contractor's point of view. The objectives of this project is to identify and manage some of the obstacles facing the contractors in the construction sector, this sector faces many problems, in our project this problems will be identified and analyzed in order to provide recommendations to solve them because the success of the construction sector supports the Palestinian economy. Also to define every part that relates to the management of construction projects such as define the project, contractor, failure, causes of failure and trying to solve the problems that the construction sector faces. The main objective of this project is to understand the reasons behind failure of contractors and identify the most important factors contributing to their failure. This project will be in two parts, the first one will cover the following main aspects: 1- Desk research about the topic.2- Study of the construction projects environment in West Bank to identify the parties of the project and relation between them.3- Preparing a specialized detailed questionnaire which will be provided to a representative sample of contractors in order to collect the needed data about the contracting companies and the construction projects.The second part of the study will cover the following main aspects:1- Implementation of the questionnaire.2- Analysis of the results of the questionnaire.3- Field visits to offices and workshops of construction in West Bank and meeting with a number of building contractors.4- Conclusions and recommendations.The result of this project will be a data base about the most important factors that cause the failure in the contracting business, in order to take them into consideration and to manage them in order to achieve success.
