Al- KhabtibThis study handles a topic of the medical geography which is the diseases and health services and their spread in selected territories of Ramallah and AL-Bireh Governorate. The territories differ in the quality and diseases of the real problems. Diseases are considered a great impediment for the people in practicing their daily life. They affect their production and capability in acting their jobs and they also cause anxiety and annoyance and restlessness which man dose not want. This study has affirmed the most environmental effects in Ramllah and AL-Bireh Governorate and that play its role in diseases infection like: climate, economic status and pollution. In this study widely spread diseases have been restricted in the Governorate via reviewing the Patients lists to the primary health care in 2005 which is conducted by the government sector. It has been spoken about these diseases through their concept, causes, symptoms methods of prevention and number of the patient in each disease in some of the Governorate areas. Chapter four has been specified for the topic of the health services presented in Ramllah and EL- Bireh Governorate through the offering administrations (government sector, private sector, charitable sector, UNRWA). And these services have been discussed through their parts like the primary health care centers hospitals, laboratories, blood banks, X-Ray center, and others. And also, the matter of preparing the services presented to the citizens in the Governorate and preparation of the patients visits to them. This study showed a lot o the results like: the existence of functional relations on the scale (0.05=a) between the diseases infection and some variables like= age, educational level, profession, cost of treatment at hospitals, sort of the water used for drinking. The results of the study also showed that the diabetes patient are of the nmost widely spread diseases in the community of the study followed by blood pressure patients.Also , the study reached to that media is considered of the most effective and followed in attaining health data in the community of the study. Upon these results a numbers of recommendations have been submitted: the necessity of an acting laws concerned in selecting the workshops, factories stone saws in order to prohibiting their establishment in the residing quarters or near them and the role of the ministry of Transport and communications in issuing laws limiting the umber of vehicles in each area which may lesson pollutants resulting from those vehicles. They also improve the quality of health services presented at the primary health care centers belonging to the government sector and activating the role of various media means in disseminating health awareness among the citizens around variables that may affect health care like marriage of relatives and the necessity of medical test marriage.
- ItemThe Impact of the City of Ramallah on the Characteristics of Population and Construction in theTown of Beitunia(2011) Mansor azzat mansor Abu reada; Dr. Adib AL-KhatibThis study examines the impact of the city of Ramallah on urban growth, development and expansion of the town of Beitunia since the middle of seventh decade of the twentieth century until the present day. This period has witnessed a rise in the number of residents in the town of Beitunia.This has been noted through the expansion of constructions, housing and diversity in land use. The agricultural land has been attacked in order to meet the needs of the expatriate population in the study area. The population numbers for 2010 has risen in Beitunia by 1654%. The importance of this study lies in addressing the most important factors that influence the increasing of urbanization in the town of Beitunia and its transition over a short period of time from a small village into a town and then into a city because of the rapid evolution and growth of the city of Ramallah through changing into a temporary capital for the Palestinian Authority. Accordingly, this study has been divided into four chapters; where the first chapter included the natural and demographic background for the study area and to shed light on the determinants of demographic and natural resources therein. The second chapter has focused on rural and urban background of the region. The third chapter has focused on the effects of urbanization on both the environment, agricultural lands and on infrastructure. The fourth chapter has focused on constructional expansion in Beitunia and the comparison between the situation in 2004 and 2010 in addition to the most important recommendations and conclusions reached by the research in addition to the list of sources and references that have been utilized. This study has followed the scientific, descriptive, clarifying, aerial photographs for several years including 2004 and 2010 ,topographic maps that show the structure of the region, the use the analytical method and personal interviews, which reflects the extent of the change in the nature of the region. The study concluded that the town of Beitunia represents combination of rural – urban area, as it combines rural and urban features. We find also a random mixing in patterns of using land, with continuous erosion of urban activities at the expense of agricultural land in addition to the existence of rural and urban thought and behaviors among inhabitants. In the end, it has been concluded that it is necessary to put proper planning to solve the problems that face town of Beitunia through its random growth associated with the city of Ramallah with poverty in the infrastructure in addition to the lack of consistency in the buildings, and the prevalence of the phenomenon of erosion of farming land that has eroded actually due to the urban expansion of the city of Ramallah.
