- ItemThe Satisfaction with Life and Its Relationship to Self- Appreciation Among the Governmental School's Principals in the Northern Districts in Palestine(2003) Adel Mahmoud Muhammad Sulaiman; Dr. Ghassan Al- HiloThis study aimed at identifying the relationship between the satisfaction with life and self-appreciation. It also aimed at identifying the level of satisfaction with life and the level of self- appreciation among the governmental school principals in the northern districts in Palestine. Moreover, this study aimed at identify the effect of the variables of gender, qualification, years of experience, social status, salary, and family numbers on the level of satisfaction with life and self- appreciation among these principals. The sample of the study consisted of (302) male and female principals chosen randomly. This equals 25% of the population. The researcher administered (302) questionnaires of which (251) questionnaires were returned back. The data were analyzed statistically. The instrument of the study consisted of two questionnaires one for the satisfaction with life and the other for self-appreciation. The ensure the questionnaires validity the questionnaires were shown to specialists. And to ensure the questionnaires reliability the researcher used Alpha Formula. The findings of the study were: There was no correlation between the level of satisfaction with life and self- appreciation among the principals in the governmental schools in the northern districts in Palestine. The domain of the satisfaction with the religious life was in the first rank followed with the domain of the satisfaction with the family life. The satisfaction with general security was in the last rank. The total degree of self-appreciation was (77%). The results concerning the independent variables were as the follows: - Gender: there was a significant statistical difference between males and females in favor of females in some domains. However, there was no statistical significant difference in self- appreciation between males and females. Social status: there was a statistical significant difference between married and single principals in favour of those who are single in the following domains: satisfaction with life, the economical aspect, media, public services, transportations, health care, satisfaction weigh degree of the sates faction with life. However, there was a significant difference in self- appreciation in favour of the married principals. Experience years: there was a statistically significant difference in the following domains: satisfaction with life, political life, public services, and the total degree of satisfaction with life in favour of less than five years’ experience. Qualification: there was a statistically significant differences part of the P.A degree and the other for M.A degree. In addition, there was a statistical significant difference in the domain of transportation, health care, satisfaction with the environment, pub Iic health, and the total degree of self- appreciation in favour of less than five years’ experience. Monthly salary: there was a statistical significant difference in whose salary is less than 200NIS. And whose salary (200-2200) NIS. And whose salary is more than (2200) NIS. Number of family members: There was a statistical significant difference in some domains favour of the family of less than three members. There was also a significant statistical difference in the total degree of self- appreciation in favour of the families that have more than five members. The important recommendations were: Mating up may studies that related to the life satisfaction and self-appreciation. And saving the ways of the economics support for the head waters of schools to be more life satisfaction and more effective. And reinforcement the religion, families, and social relationship. And developed the ability for adapting. And reinforcement the individual's confidence and helping him to point out his aims to achieve them.
