Waleed Abdulfatah KhanfarThis study aims at recognizing sports injuries in Physical Education (Hereinafter referred to as SE) specialization students in the Palestinian universities in terms of their prevalence, the most commonly injured body part and the degree of the prevalence of the injury. The previously mentioned criteria were studied according to many factors, namely: gender, educational level, kind of game and the university in which students attended. In order to achieve this goal, the population of the study was 274 students (males and females), who joined the bachelor degree in SE at An.Najah National University, Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie and Al.Quds University. In order to conduct the study, a questionnaire was prepared using recurrences, percentages and Pearson’s Chi Square Test (Hereinafter referred to as CST). The results were as follows: - The most common sports injuries in the students of SE specialization in the West Bank are distensions, torn muscles, sprains and dislocations to the extent that the percentages of “yes” as an answer are 77%, 64.6%, 56.2% and 51.1%. - The most commonly injured body parts are ankle joints (60.2%), then the back (55.1%) while the least commonly injured body parts are other parts (5.1%) and then elbows joints (20.8%). - The overall degree of the causes of SE students at the universities of the West Bank is medium that the percentage of the responses is (69.38%), and the main reasons behind that is mainly not warming up, the playground is not up to the standards and the absence of appreciation of individual differences. - There are differences in the prevalence of injuries in the SE students at the West Bank universities according to gender and educational level. - Based on team sports, there are differences in the prevalence of injuries in the SE students at the West Bank universities, which include torn muscles, broken bones, sprains, dislocations, bruises and distensions. - Based on the attended university, there are differences in the prevalence of injuries in the SE students at the West Bank universities, which include distensions, broken bones, sprains ,torn muscles , dislocations and scratches. - There are no differences in the prevalence of injuries in the SE students at the West Bank universities according to gender and educational level. - Based on the attended university, there are differences in the most commonly injured body parts in the SE students at the West Bank universities. They include the injuries of ankles joints, back, head, face, wrest, shoulders’ joints or other parts. - There are statistically significant variations in the overall degree of injuries’ causes in the SE students at the West Bank according to the attended university. The researcher recommended a number of recommendations as the following: - Lecturers should pay more attention to students’ warming up when they teach practical courses. - They should make sure that they have a good and safe play grounds’ floor. - They should pay more attention to the individual differences of the students.
