Abstract
Palestine faces major economic and social challenges, including limited natural resources, heavy reliance on imports, and high unemployment rates. In this context, agro-industrial cities emerge as a promising solution to strengthen the Palestinian economy, achieve sustainable development, and provide job opportunities for young people.
This research aims to plan a new agro-industrial city in Palestine that is integrated with its surroundings and takes into account all the needs of the region. This city will serve as a symbol of resilience and defiance, and a center for developing skills and expertise. As a model city that combines agriculture and industry, it will play a crucial role in stimulating the economy and developing communities, aiming to achieve sustainable development through the optimal use of natural and human resources. This city will have an impact on several levels: globally through its role in international trade and the global economy; nationally as a catalyst for economic improvement and a center for agro-industrial services; and regionally as a regional or sub-regional center that provides alternative products to occupation products and creates sustainable job opportunities.
This project is not just an idea but rather a practical embodiment of the National Spatial Plan, and an integrated vision to enhance the resilience of farmers in the face of brutal occupation and to achieve economic and social sustainability in a region that faces daily political challenges.
Tubas Governorate was chosen to implement this project in response to the ongoing political challenges and aggressions it faces. 80% of the governorate's land is considered Area C, under Israeli security and administrative control, and it is close to settlements, military zones, and settlement outposts. The project aims to establish a city that combines agriculture and industry, taking advantage of Tubas' fertile land and diverse topography. In addition, it is located strategically close to main and regional roads, especially the main road No. 90 that connects the north of Palestine to its south.
Key outputs of the project include a zoning plan that includes planning the street network, and a land use plan detailing the specific use of each area within the project boundaries.
