Abstract
The graduation project is designing a building of a restaurant in Nablus that satisfies the standards to obtain an integrated design. The project also includes analyzing and assessing a case study and comparing its results with standards.
The building of a restaurant was selected based on demand in the region. In addition to demand, the restaurants have always played an essential role in business, social, intellectual, and artistic life so they are found almost everywhere, on quiet streets, busy roads, hotels, airports, parks, as well as bus and trains stations, office buildings and shopping malls. Moreover, restaurants contribute to the food service industry.
The project has two stages. The first stage is selecting a building of restaurant as a case study to analyze and assess the building in the following aspects: architectural, environmental, structural, mechanical, and electrical aspects then compare the results with the local and international standards. This stage also includes preliminary architectural design of a new restaurant building which includes site plan, elevations and sections. in addition, it comprises suggesting many structural systems and selecting the most suitable structural system that will be used in the project.
The second stage is to continue the design of the restaurant building. Structural, environmental, mechanical, and electrical aspects will be designed according to local and international standards to obtain an integrated design and high performance building. In the structural design the selected structural system in the first stage will be designed. The environmental part includes acoustical design, lighting design and ventilation systems. The mechanical part includes designing plumbing systems and HVAC system. Electrical design includes lighting, switches and socket distribution, earthling system, circuit breaker and control panel.
Computer software will be used to design the building, for example: Rivet will be used for architectural design, Etabs and SAP for structural design, Design Builder for thermal design, Dialux-evo for lighting design and Ecotect for environmental design.
Finally, integrated designed plans for the building including detailed drawings and cost estimation are the output of the graduation project.
