| dc.description.abstract | Balata Al-Balad area is located in the City of Nablus few kilometers to the east of the city. Balata Al-Balad has an old water distribution network. It suffers from many problems. The pressure in many areas is low and thus elevated houses suffers from water supply problems. In addition, there are many pipes that are undersized. A water distribution network that functions properly can be relied on supplying water perfectly. Therefore, our graduation project includes evaluating the existing water distribution network and analyze it hydraulically in order to find out the problems in the network and to address later on. Specifically, we will concentrate on the computation and modeling of the pressure head at the different nodes of the network and the computation of the velocity through pipes. Both parameters indicate the quality of service and the capacity of the pipes, respectively. There are other problems such as water losses and the redesign of the network will definitely solve these problems upon implementation in reality. Therefore, we are going to re-design a new water distribution network to serve the study area for a long future if needed. The work relies on data collection, data assessment, demand and supply computation and the hydraulic analysis that will be based on the use of WaterCAD. At the end of our project, we expect to get rid of these problems theoretically, and to distribute enough quantity of water with good quality and good pressure for all houses and buildings in the study area, to meet all the needs of the citizen's water demand. This graduation project carries a significant importance in the practical aspect due to the fact that the project targets an important aspect of infrastructure. | |
