Abstract
Project management is the sum of activities such as planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling a project in order to meet the shareholder expectation from start to finish within the planned period budget and quality. Although management is a crucial part of any construction project, it is neglected in the implementation of construction projects in Palestine.
This neglection of application may lead to many problems during the construction phase, such as; cost overruns, the large amount of deviation between estimated and actual cost, delay in project completion, over or under estimated time related to needed resources. This study aims to show the significance of the implementation of project management principles over a construction project.
This will be achieved through utilizing the project management principles of scheduling and software related to quantity survey and cost estimate. This will assist in identifying the best schedule for the selected project, perform resource management, cost management.
This study will deal with an under- construction building, which is Al-Hudhud Vocational School in Nablus. this school is about three thousand square meter and about three floors. This project focuses on Contractor Quantity Surveying and Cost Estimate, Estimate the duration of this project, and compare it with the actual duration and actual cost.
The process involves: First, investigating and analysing the bid documents of the selected project; Second: the “REVIT” software will be used to build 3Dimensional model of the building. Moreover, smart data and bill of quantities will be extracted from the “REVIT” tool. Then, productivity rates and unit prices data will be collected from the market and inserted in “PRIMAVERA” tool. After that, the project completion time and cost will be found using “PRIMAVERA”.
Finally, the comparison will be conducted between the estimated data and actual data to prove the positive effect of applying management principles prior to the construction phase.
