dc.description.abstract People use water in domestic residences, commercial properties, industry, and agriculture. This produces a huge amount of unwanted water (wastewater). The wastewater contains a wide range of contaminants. A traditional method used to dispose wastewater is cesspits. However, disposal of wastewater via cesspits an endanger groundwater, pollute the environment and furthermore this generates bad odors. Other means for the disposal of wastewater from the location of generation is the use of wastewater collection networks. The solution of this problem is to construct a wastewater collection network in the area that is not serviced by such networks. However, a good design of a wastewater collection network must be attained first. Of course, this requires a good understanding of engineering concepts with the help of an efficient specialized computer software like SewerCAD. Our graduation project encompasses the design of a wastewater collection network for the New Nablus Area (NNA) located in the City of Nablus. We have divided our report into seven chapters. In the first chapter, introduction, we give a small background about wastewater generation and wastewater collection methods, and we describe the goals of this project and the methodology that we will follow during our design.  Then we describe the study area in the second chapter from many aspects, such as location, topography, temperature, etc. Next chapter show the equations and design criteria to use in the design of a wastewater collection networks. In chapter four, we calculate the wastewater generated amounts for the NNA. Chapter five demonstrate the development of the wastewater network using SewerCAD software. This require collecting different data types which may need field visits and making interviews with relevant personnel like municipality engineers and surveyors, contractors.  After completing the design of the wastewater collection network, we calculate the material quantities and costs as described in chapter six. By using ArcGIS software we calculate these quantities easily and we get the items cost from the Municipality of Nablus and specialized contractors. Finally, we give our conclusions and recommendations after completing the design of the network. en
