dc.description.abstract | The speed breaker consists of curved piece of rubber placed over a steel plate, there is a rack welded to the steel plate, this rack is in contact with a gear and pinion. The rack converts the transitional motion of the plate into rotational motion. These gears are connected to a DC-generator which converts the kinetic energy into electrical energy. This speed breaker contains also of 2 springs, they are used for absorbing the sudden load of the car and for returning the plate to its normal position. Also, we put 2 rods inside the springs to prevent buckling. As the car passes over the speed breaker, the upper steel plate moves down and the rack moves as well, this rack converts the transitional motion of the moving plate into rotational motion in the gear, which rotates the pinion placed on the DC-generator. When the load is removed (the car weight), the springs return the plate to its original position. As a result, the gears and the generator move in opposite direction. | en |
