Abstract
Nail making machine is a traditional and famous machine which makes nails in efficient and easiest way. In this project the aim is to design an effective nail making machine that produce nails with high quality. This project needs a lot of resources to collect information about the nail making machine, so the data is collected from internet, reference books, companies that produce nail making machine and consultant engineers. After collecting the information, the parts of nail making machine are obtained and each parts work together are collected in a system. There are four systems from the entry of the wire to the exit of the formed nail they are the power driving system, the wire feeding system, the nail head forming system and the cutting system. This machine can fabricate nails at any desired length; it just depends on the order and the parameters of the nail making machine. The main idea in this project is to compare the designing results and parameters that come from three methods, first method, experimental method which is used to determine the forging force that is required to form the nail head. Second method, finite element method which is used to determine the forging force that form the nail head and cutting force which cuts the wire nail with the desired shape by using Abaqus program. Third method, theoretical method which is used to calculate all the parameters that are required to design the nail making machine. All the required parts of the nail making machine are designed in this project and know exactly what are the needed dimensions to all the parts, we just focus on the machine element design regardless the vibration analysis and the balancing analysis, so the aim of this project is to determine the parameters that important to design the elements of the machine.
