Abstract
In todays global and competitive market, food companies are working hard to improve their facility design system. Facilities planning maximize effectiveness of production process and satisfied needs of employee; reduce the time and effort to the workers, as well as guidance to clear approach in production and quality within the desired level. Facility is defined as a space in which a business's operations take a place, from layout design we improve the flow of work, material, equipment and information through the system.         The important aspects that our project covered classified into three categories : layout design ,facility system design , inventory model design .This includes take into consideration improving all system required to support the activity especially in the production line, such as equipment , machinery , worker movement , flow within and between department, in addition facilitate the transportation to the customer.        This project aims to improve the current facility systems. Thus, we are able to provide the ideal relationship between raw material, equipment and manpower in order to minimize the cost, effectively utilize resources, inventory spaces and find other room of improvement to increase productivity.       The methodology consists of all steps that should be carried throughout the project. Firstly, problem statement will be defined, secondly we made a models that gave us the best solution to choose the best suppliers and where the factory will purchase the warehouses, thirdly we use the input data to establish the relationship chart, relationship diagram, schedule design and draw the BOM, Route sheet, flow chart, process chart, fourthly model for inventory design to determine   ,fifthly generating alternatives, finally, evaluation and test the best solution.         Our project describes the improvement of facility layout design at Shalhoub Industrial Co. in the industrial area in Nablus. It investigates the importance of current situation study and flow of the process to provide high, standardized productivity, and achieve maximum capacity, minimize cost in the factory. To implement the work in effective manner by generating new layout        Facility design is a significant issue in most manufacturing industries due to its big influence on productivity and cost.     The problem statement in this project is to study the current facility layout, which affects badly on the capacity and productivity of the factory, in terms of providing improper material flow, workers movement and unsuitable machines order, further more unutilized inventory spaces. Also, In order to increase productivity, reduce wasted time, reduce cost, and utilize all the available resources and spaces.       In the proposed design, we aim to generate several alternative layouts for the factory, through the employment of different methods and build different models. So the best layout could be selected and implemented in strategic manner.      In our project we aimed to compete through, improving the layout design of the factory, which in turn has a direct and indirect impact on Shalhoub Co. on consumers, workers and particular on the production to complete their industrial competitiveness goals, such as minimize the cost, effectively utilize resources and find other room of improvement through layout to increase productivity. These objectives are:          Increase the profits of the Shalhoub Industrial Co. by generating new layout          Reduce obstacles for worker while doing their jobs          Supplement production process easily.          Ensure Production capacity within the maximum power, in case of emergency          Enhance the possibility of increasing the market share.          Good utilization for space.          Minimize of the expected annual operating cost
