Abstract
This research focuses on the planning and design of a cultural and artisanal complex operating under the principles of the circular economy in Ramallah. The complex will encompass various artisanal workshops and cultural spaces, integrated in their functional environment to reinforce sustainability and achieve a synergy between artisanal, cultural, and social activities. The primary goal is to mitigate current and future environmental impacts by providing an efficient system for recycling and reusing materials. The study involves identifying the needs and challenges of the target area through comprehensive field studies and community resource assessments. It includes analyzing effective and sustainable design methods to reduce energy consumption and support the local economy. The project site has been carefully selected to be close to cultural and educational centers in Ramallah, with citizen participation in the selection and design process to ensure their needs and aspirations are met. The research is based on a set of sustainable environmental principles and standards, focusing on providing a healthy and supportive working environment for artisans and promoting cultural and social interaction among various community components. Initial design concepts will be developed, followed by a site analysis to assess the compatibility of the chosen location with project requirements. Subsequently, a detailed master plan will be prepared, outlining the distribution of workshops, cultural spaces, and various services. The project aims to boost the local economy by supporting artisans and artists and offering training and awareness programs on circular economy principles and sustainability.
