dc.description.abstract INTRODUCTION Hydraulics is a branch of science and engineering concerned with the mechanical properties of liquids. The popularity of hydraulic machinery is due to the very large amount of power that can be transferred through small tubes and flexible hoses; and the high power density and wide array of actuators that can make use of this power. The objective of this project is to design and build a hydraulic lift to raise a heavy weight like cars up to four tons by hydraulic fluid power system.Hydraulic accumulator is used to store hydraulic energy to be delivered back to the system on demand, -similar to the way a car battery which stores energy-, to minimize the capacity of the pump that is needed to lift the same weight without hydraulic accumulator. The system consists of hydraulic pump, hydraulic fluid (oil), accumulator, valves, pipes, piston and beams that carry the load. The mechanism of the system starts with the hydraulic pump which pumps hydraulic fluid into the accumulator, where the gas which is contained in the bladder will be compressed. The gas volume is reduced and pressure is increased, Which accumulates energy in the accumulator to be used fully at ones, and when we open the valve to allow the bladder in accumulator push the fluid to flow in pipes pushing piston up and so to lift the weight; we predict that this amount of energy if collected will be able to raise heavier loads.Hence, the importance of our project comes from reducing the capacity of the pump, lowering energy consumption, and producing more efficiency, therefore less expensive. To achieve this objective, this work has been based on theories of fluid and design, the second chapter is concerned about design theory, it illustrates central loading columns theory, pressurized cylinder, beams loads and reactions, and max shear stress theory, the third chapter clarifies fluid power system, this chapter consist of information about viscosity, fluid flow in pipes, head, Pascal's law, accumulators and valves.en
