dc.description.abstract     Hebron city is considered the largest city of Palestine that is located in the southern parts of the West Bank.  Recently Hebron city municipality decided to add new areas to its authority; some of these areas are located to the west of the city and include the following: Loza, Issa, Khalet Shreif, Farsh Al Hawa and Dwer Ban.  Residents of these areas suffer from a huge gap in the infrastructure which includes a clean drinking water network and a proper waste water collection system.  Therefore, we decided to design a drinking water network and a waste water collection system for these areas.  In this way, we will be helping people there in avoiding the effort of bringing and buying water from tankers brought by trucks and also we will be helping in reducing the environmental effects that result from the people usage of cesspits next to their houses.      The most important thing we have done in this project is the full design of a clean drinking water network that will serve the mentioned above areas, in addition to that a design of proper waste water collection system.  Moreover the design is applicable as soon as it is approved by the municipality is interested in implementing the design to serve the residents with a reliable water supply.      The main objective for this project was providing a new full design of a water network system and a wastewater collection system for the western areas of Hebron which are in great need for such systems.  The waste water collection system for these regions reduce the environmental effects that have been growing and threatening public health as these regions do not have waste water collection systems until now.  Moreover this helped in some way to improve the socio-economic conditions of the people living in these regions by reducing the cost of disposal of the wastewater and also the supply of drinking water.      In the design of this project, we have started by collecting data about the regions mentioned above and then we have done an analysing the data and the topography of the regions. Moreover we have studied the population in these regions and predict how the future population is going to be in order to predict the future demand that we will be designing the networks for. All of this was done carefully in order to meet the design criteria of the Palestinian Water Authority and Hebron municipality.     The design and hydraulic analyses of the water network was done using WaterCAD program which allowed us (in addition to full design of the network) to study different alternatives of the network by changing diameters and the distribution of junctions in order to get the most suitable and economical network that satisfies the requirements of Palestinian Water Authority.      Concerning the design of the wastewater collection system we used SewerCAD program in the design, but first of all we have studied the topography of the regions which is the most important element in the design and then started distributing the manholes to serve all the regions.       Finally this project was done for the first time in these regions. Concerning the results we obtained from water network analysis most of the junctions pressures were within the limits (15-80 H2O) and pipes velocities were also with the range of PWA design criteria. As for the results we obtained from hydraulic analysis of sewer networks of both regions, the velocities in both of them were mostly in the range specified in the design constrains of the PWA except of some velocities in the upper region were below velocity limit and this is due to low loads. Moreover, the covers were also with the limits of PWA design criteria except of few.  en
