The main aim of this study is to determine the relationship between demographic variables and level of knowledge of university students regarding to renewable energy (RE), for this purpose a questionnaire is prepared and distributed on 570 students from all faculties of AnNajah National University. SPSS 19.0 program is employed for data analysis. The obtained results are tested by using the t-test, ANOVA test, chi-square, Post hoc comparisons, Tukey HSD test, descriptive statistics and frequencies. Finally, actions that should be taken to increase university students’ awareness levels are described. The results showed that there is not a significant difference in the students’ knowledge about RE relating to gender, education level of the students, and parental education level, but there is due to the faculty. The awareness levels of the university students affected by the type of graduated high school, Students who comes from industrial schools are the most aware among university students. Whereas 42.1% of the students were from the scientific stream, 50.2% were from the literary stream and only 1.6% from industrial stream. The current study showed that, 45.6% of the students thought that Palestine has high wind potential while more than 40% of the participants believe that Palestine is at the top of world rankings with respect to solar energy wealth and it has high solar potential. Moreover, only 22.8% of the students think that Palestine is using its existing potential of solar energy as one of the renewable energy sources, fully. While the majority (57.9%) of them disagree with that. All these results indicates that students awareness and knowledge about RE was limited. In contrast, 71.3% of the respondents believe that investment in RE projects is successful and 70.4% of students confirmed using solar energy in Palestine mostly to heat water.en_US
