Abstract
Agriculture is one of the most important sectors underpinning food security and economic and social development worldwide. In the Palestinian context, agriculture stands as a first line of defense in the face of political and economic challenges posed by the Israeli occupation, especially in areas that rely heavily on agriculture as a livelihood, like the Qalqilya city.
The Agricultural Research and Training Center Project in Qalqilya aims to develop the agricultural sector and enhance the resilience of farmers by providing practical research-based solutions to overcome agricultural challenges addressed in the region.
The center focuses on a prime area in Qalqilya that is suffering from major environmental and political challenges, that considers their land to be one of the areas most affected by wall ripping and because of business policies that seek to downsize farms and keep farmers out. The program provides support to farmers through research aimed at improving yields, sustaining natural resources and developing advanced agricultural technologies adapted to local conditions.
The center also plays an important role in strengthening Qalqilya’s agricultural identity, as the education sector trains and develops a new generation of agricultural professionals with the necessary skills to solve the challenges of agricultural politics eligibility. It is a work that highlights the importance of agriculture as a source of strategic resilience and livelihood.
The project will focus on supporting the local economy and preserving the agricultural identity of Qalqilya, as well as adopting modern and sustainable architectural solutions for the needs of the region. The center represents an ongoing step towards food security and sustainable development, signaling resilience in the face of political and environmental challenges.
