Waste tires pyrolysis: Nablus as a case study

Abstract
Due to the high consumption of fuels and the limit age of its sources, A lot of researches focused on finding alternative sources of conventional fuel sources , one of these alternatives is by using pyrolysis. Pyrolysis is a very significant solution not only as fuel source , also it is important in waste management and the several application of its other products. In this study, a rotating reactor for pilot scale pyrolysis has been designed and used for the production of fuel ,char and gas from waste tires. An experiment was done in this pilot scale plant at An-Najah university , before using waste tires it was cleaned and dried , the main products from waste tires pyrolysis process was : pyrolysis oil from tires , pyrolysis gas , steel wires and char , the percentage of each product was 45% , 10% , 10% , 35% ,representatively. TGA test was done for pyrolysis oil and wheel and the conditions were: 30 mg as minimum weight of all samples, heating rate of 10°C/min and the maximum temperature was 800 °C, , the results showed different behaviour of mass loss during increasing temperature for wheel, char and oil . Another TGA test was used to analyze the main components obtained from pyrolysis of waste tires (oil, char) in an industrial scale plant and a sample of non-pyrolysis tire, two TGA test was done the first one with a standard conditions of 30 mg as minimum weight of all samples, heating rate of 15°C/min and the maximum temperature was 600 °C , the second TGA standards used was:30 mg as minimum weight of all samples, heating rate of 15°C/min and the maximum temperature was 800 °C, the results showed different behaviour of mass loss during increasing temperature for char, oil and non-pyrolysised tire. TG analysis for pyrolysis products from pilot and industrial scale showed very close readings and results. The pilot scale plant needs some enhancements in order to get better experiments conditions and more accurate results . In conclusion , the tires pyrolysis process in Palestine is important to focus on due to many factors : the pyrolysis plants are not very expensive to establish , the pyrolysis process is an eniviromently-friendly process ,the using of waste tires to solve one of the most important global problems which is lack of fuel sources ; fuel obtained from waste tires pyrolysis has a high heating value and lower cost than the conventional fuel , the indication this value give is the high possibility to use pyrolysis oil instead of conventional fuel , the using of char as an solid fuel and for different industries , waste tires management and in case of Palestine energy security is one of the most important factors ; pyrolysis gives an effective solution for lack of fuel through an applicable technology, that can be established and built without the restrictions from Israel,also an statistics in the west Bank have been desccused and illustrated the number of praivet cars ,trucks ,and other automobile in fact these statistics gives clear vision about how tyiers in west bank and nablus abou, Nablus has the first numbers of vehicles stores , third number of licensed vehicles and 47.7% of its vehicles depends on diesel fuel, these statistics and information give indication that pyrolosis process is an excellent option to be the future source of energy in Palestin
