Abstract
Shake table is a device where models can be tested by applying a force at a specific frequency to the base of the model – the shake table itself -. This device is useful mainly for the study of response of buildings to earthquakes, and many other applications, where researchers used it for the models of water reservoirs, soil …etc. This study is dedicated to make a preliminary design of the shake table. It is the first graduation project in the university related to the design of the shake table. The importance of this project is that it could be used in the vibration Lab. to carry out experiments related to the base excitation, it may be used by civil engineers to expect the behavior of buildings that are exposed to ground motion, it may be used in research for any novel structure that may be exposed to ground forces. This report shows a detailed model of a shake table designed for the purpose of study, the model designed with single axis and can be developed to obtain more than single axis, and with the current circumstances the model is theoretically designed with the dimensions and characteristics attached, in addition to the results obtained from a program SolidWorks By applying the recommended frequency range 0.5-1 Hz within the model simulation through the software, the final values obtained such as acceleration, displacement, and deformation are concluded.
