Abstract
Al-Quds Open University is a mid-sized university which was founded in 1991, it has several branches located almost in all the Palestinian cities, such as Nablus, Jenin, Hebron, Gaza, Jericho, Bethlehem and Qalqilya. This university severs about 57000 students all over its branches. Due to the growth of the urban areas which caused Salfit to become a governorate of a population of 70,000 , it becomes necessary to have a university in this area. So, a branch for Al-Quds Open University is proposed to be built in Salfit.Actually, this project has many advantages and a lot of importance, one of these great benefits is to reach as much areas ( such as villages ) as possible in order to deliver the higher education through the universities for these areas, such as Al-Zawyeh, Bedya, Deir Istia, Kefl Hares, and many other villages in addition to Salfit city itself, besides, this project helps to overcome transportation difficulties that might be caused by political issues and conflicts, far distances, and the limited transportation means in some areas. Another advantage is that constructing a new branch for Al-Quds open university may help in reducing the number of students in other crowded branches which plays an important role in providing a better learning process, reducing the load on the staff, and to have less crowded classes and lectures, and also, this project contributes mitigating the traffic congestion in the old branches. This project is completed through the following phases : firstly, the architectural Plans and elevations from the Consultant ( Designer ) office are obtained. Secondly, an introduction describing the project and its objectives is written , beside discussing the used codes and the different types of loadings ( Live, Dead, Wind, Earth Quake, Snow ). Thirdly, a preliminary design is performed using hand calculations and basic principles learned in the related courses to select initial dimensions. Finally, a 3D model is constructed for one block of this university and analyzed dynamically using SAP2000 program, to ensure that the analysis results are proper, and fully detailed plans and sections are provided for all the members in all the parts of the project.
