dc.description.abstractConstruction industry is an essential contributor to the progress of any country, particularly in the Palestinian context. However, previous studies indicate that the performance of construction projects in Palestine has substantially deteriorated, largely due to poor quality management and innovation practices, resulting in increased maintenance costs, building collapses, customer dissatisfaction, and poor competitiveness. Improving the effectiveness of both quality management and innovation practices can help address these issues, reduce rework, lower maintenance costs, and improve project life cycle value. This study aims to provide insights and recommendations for advancing quality and innovation management to enhance projects’ performance in the Palestinian construction industry. This includes examining the impact of Quality Management Practices (QMP) on Project Innovation (PI) and Project Performance (PP), in addition to assessing whether project innovation directly affects project performance. The study incorporates collection of quantitative data through a purpose-built questionnaire distributed to managers and engineers involved in consulting firms and offices based in the West Bank. A simple random sampling method yielded 71 valid responses for analysis based on the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique using Smart-PLS software. The results reveal a strong, significant positive correlation between QMP and PP, indicating that effective quality management can remarkably enhance project performance. Additionally, QMP positively impact PI. However, the relationship between PI and PP is not statistically significant, indicating that innovation alone does not directly improve performance. This research concludes that QMP are essential for enhancing innovation and performance in construction projects. It also emphasizes that innovation is not directly related to project performance, which raises the requirement for a more comprehensive examination of this relationship. The findings provide practical recommendations for construction firms, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to establish quality management systems, such as adopting ISO 9000 that enhance project outcomes and minimize the occurrence of structural collapses. This study also supports the use of an innovation framework and recommends engaging stakeholders in its implementation. This research offers comprehensive insights for more future research that will in turn enrich and improve the construction industry in Palestine.
