dc.description.abstractJob Satisfaction of Department Heads in the Palestinian National Authority Ministries in the Northern Governorates Statement of the problem: The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of job satisfaction of department heads in the Palestinian National. Authority ministries. It also attempted to ascertain the effects of the study variables on the administrators' job satisfaction. The research questions: As a means of structuring the problem, the researcher sought to answer the following questions. 1. What is the extent of the job satisfaction of the department heads in the Palestinian ministries? 2. Does the degree of job satisfaction of department heads in the PNA's ministries differ according to age? 3. Does the degree of job satisfaction of department heads in the PNA's ministries differ according to academic qualification? 4. Does the degree of job satisfaction of department heads in the PNA's ministries differ according to the northern governorates? 5. Does the degree of job satisfaction of department heads in the PNA's ministries differ according to years of administrative experience ? 6. Does the degree of job satisfaction of department heads in the PNA's ministries differ according to job rank ? Methodology: The study population consisted of all administrators of the Palestinian National. Authority. There total number was 185. However, 167 questionnaire were found to be valid for statistical analysis A study questionnaire was developed, tested and validated; it included 76 item covering the areas of: 1 Nature of work. 2. Communication system. 3. Supervision. 4. Promotion system. 5. Salaries. 6. Relationship with colleagues. The collected data were analyzed by the computer. The statistical methods of means, percentages, and standard deviation were used in testing the questions of the study. Findings: Job satisfaction differ according to the following variables: 1. Academic qualification. The highest level of satisfaction was among the holders of high school degrees and lower. The lowest level of satisfaction was among B.A. and high diploma holders. 2. Administrative experience. The highest level of satisfaction was among those who had (16-25) years of experience, and the lowest level of satisfaction was among those who had less than 5 years of experience. 3. Job rank. It was found that the highest level of satisfaction was among the general directors and the lowest was among those lower in rank than category C. 4. Age variable. The findings also revealed that age had a positive impact on the level of job satisfaction; it was found that there was a relationship between the increase of age and the job satisfaction.en
