With the rise in housing prices in Palestine and in the world in general and with the increasing population of major cities, the search for new, better and more flexible architecture is becoming the major interest of architects around the world. In Palestine, traditional ways of construction are still dominating the field, the demand for new homes is hardly met. A shortage of skilled labor caused by working in the occupied territories, all is resulting in sky rocketing prices of new homes. This project aims to provide a solution for the abovementioned challenges by exploring modular architecture to provide affordable, customizable, higher quality and quicker homes. This proposal that aims to tackle a set of issues that faces our communities today which include: • Overcrowded refugee camps that reached a limit in horizontal expansion. • Unhumanitarian, unhealthy conditions of life in many places in Palestine. • A housing crisis driven by a “race to the bottom” real-estate market. • Limited agricultural activities and huge reliance on illegal Israeli settlements products. • High rates of unemployment, and dependency on Israeli markets. • Long periods of construction time that doesn’t meet demand. • Decreasing green areas in our citiesen_US
