Potential Zero energy building in Palestine

Abstract
The basic idea of the project is to redesign an office building (Trust building Nablus ), in order to study the potential of making it as zero energy building .We made a study of what is zero energy building and the strategies we should take in consideration for this purpose.After studying the strategies for energy efficiency, and trying to use renewable energy to reduce the large amount of consuming energy, we found that it is very difficult to reach the building to the point of zero, specially for multi floors offices building. The project will involve a study of the nature of the site, architectural, structural, electrical, environmental and mechanical design, and safety aspects. Architectural and environmental design will takes into consideration the orientation, form, spaces .The structure will be designed using SAP (structure analysis design) with 3-D model, also analysis for seismic design, Moreover, to provide public safety: It also will be designed for fire safety using fire alarms, elevators, exits and other systems. The electrical design involves lighting systems, electrical wiring, and sockets, especially for high-power devices. In addition mechanical and HVAC installations and plumbing will be consider. Finally, the report contains table of quantities, cost estimate and shop drawings that can be implemented in practice.
