THE PERSPECTIVES OF EFL STUDENTS FOR USING TIKTOK TO ENHANCE CREATIVE THINKING IN LEARNING SHORT FICTION IN PALESTINIAN HIGHER EDUCATION

| dc.description.abstract | This study aimed to investigated the perspectives of EFL students on the using TikTok as a tool to enhance creative thinking in learning short fiction within Palestinian higher education, specifically at An-Najah National University and Al-Quds Open University. A mixed-method research design was employed to analyze both quantitative and qualitative data collected through a structured questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The sample consisted of 355 students selected via stratified random sampling across gender, year of study, and university. with the highest means in the domain of “TikTok as a Teaching Tool for Short Fiction.” Statistically significant differences were found in student perspectives based on gender (in favor of males), academic year (in favor of first-year students), and university (in favor of Al-Quds Open University). Qualitative findings from interviews supported the effectiveness of TikTok in promoting student engagement, motivation, and multimodal expression, while also highlighting challenges such as digital distraction and performance anxiety. The study concluded that TikTok has significant pedagogical value in the EFL literature classroom when used within a guided and supportive framework. It recommends teacher training, classroom policy development, and further research to ensure effective integration of TikTok into educational practice. | |
