Abstract
The Arabic shart (condition) in reading has occupied a wide space and room for many propositions in terms of the justification for its existence or in terms of mechanism of its application. It has been reflected in its effects on numerous scholars. All this is attributed to the fact that the Qu’anic reading is a prophetic teaching, thus making it hardly in need of depending on the Arabic shart. It is a fact that would be realized inevitably. Against this background, this study has sought to examine the value and effectiveness of the Arabic shart in directing and judging the Qu’ranic readings and looking into the mechanism of applying it in various academic settings or environments among the Ancients this study has highlighted the implications resulting from applying this shart among the modernists. Given the study problem, objectives and hypotheses, and the perusal of related literature, the researcher has addressed the topic in an introduction and three chapters. In each chapter, the researcher has established tracks of Arabic shart application. In the conclusion, he presented some findings, recommendations and reflections. In chapter one, the researcher traced the history/course of the Arabic shart in terms of development and directives of its stability. Chapter two was devoted to research into the employment of the Arabic shart and its impact on assessment of readings among the Ancients. Chapter three examined the Arabic shart implications among the modernists. The study has concluded with a two-pronged result: The first pertains to the value of the Arabic shart whereas the second pertains to the mechanism of application. It was found that the Arabic shart had been applied on the readings. This application has had a considerable value. The mechanism of application has been completed in an integrated manner with the rest of the readings.
