Originality and Revewal in Mousa Hafiz Poetry

Abstract
This study tackles renovation in the poetry of Mousa Hafiz by going through his early life until today highlighting various political, social and economical events influencing and carving his poetic experience. As a result, he became a well-known singer in the West Bank known for his patriotism and nostalgic nature crying over the lost homeland. Still, he copes with today’s world easily being well-known for his socio-cultural and patriotic role through his works. Also, it talks about his originality in his poetry in terms of the artistic form or rhythmic music which he sticks to such as mejana, ataba, dalona, al-hajini, al-samer, al-mraba’, al-mthaman, al-qardi, al-farawi and al-qasid. Besides, it projects models of his poetry showing their rhyme and retheme as well as his originality in form and content. Furthermore, the most common contents in this poetry are his patriotic content including clinging to our homeland and glorifying it, departure and leaving by force, Jerusalem and sacred sites and then revolutionary enthusiasm and religious content. In the religious content, he focuses on mentioning God and his messenger (PBUH) and how he mentioned the content of some suras and hadiths in his poetry reflecting his belonging to the Arab nation. In addition, he focuses on the role of poetry in defending the main cause which is the Palestinian cause despite the set-back of the role of the Arab countries. Also, he talks about the Palestinian social issues to pin down some concepts criticizing others such as women issues, wife, and the mistress highlighting its origins in his poetry. Besides, it clarifies that renovation in rhythm internally and externally including redundancy, punning, rhyme and rhythm as well as using new musical instruments leading the renovation of the content of the simile. Also, it illustrates the nature of his phrasing, narrative as well as his dramatic structure leading to the formation of his simile. Furthermore, he renovated in his language and style creating a great influence on the receiver because of the ease of words as well as their sweetness and intertextualization with modern poetry. Also, he renovated the use of proverbs using new content such as national unity, the reality of the Arab countries after the Arab Spring, the emergence of new negative phenomena such as corruption, treasury, women cause and the change of poet’s point of view about it.
