Abstract
This thesis illuminates the differences between the renowned exegete Abdul Karim Al-Khatib and the majority of interpreters regarding the Qur'anic stories spanning from Suras Al-Baqarah to Al-Isra’a. Despite the depth and the broadness of his knowledge, however, his exegesis contained lots of differences which could be acceptable, and many other -which the researcher saw the majority as serious violations- maybe not.
The researcher has followed all these differences and tried to refute them based on the right and context-align hermeneutics.
The study started with introducing Abdul Kareem Al-Katib and his tafsir book, illuminating the impact of the rationale approach on his interpretation, which was unambiguous clear on the stories of messengers: Adam, Noah, Saleh, Josef, Zechariah, Moses and Jesus (peace be upon then all).
Furthermore, The study has touched upon Al-Khatib’s disagreements in the stories of ancient nations- other than the prophets-, like the stories of : Al-Uzair, Cain and Abel, the companions of Moses who accompanied him to the place of meeting, specifying the name who went astray despite receiving Allah’s signs but he chose to pass them aways, the nature of death which was feared by those who abandoned their homes, the captains of Moses, and the spouse of Imran.
The researcher agreed with Al-Khatib in some of his interpretations, however, disagreed in the majority of them, based on evidence and proofs enlightened by the interpretation of prominent and majority of the exegetes.
As the study went on, the researcher exhibited that some of the Al-Khatib disagreements were merely his own opinions which no one adopted before, like his opinion in creation of Adam and the genesis of cosmos. On the other hand some of his opinions were adopted by some of other prominent exegetes, such as his saying that the flood of Noad was local not universal, stressing that Al-Khatib had conformed with the Al-Manar school.
