Abstract
Abstract The study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of an expressive counseling group program to improve the communication skills of kindergarten children who suffer from social shyness, in Nablus Governorate. To achieve the objectives of the study, Social Shyness and Communication Skills Scales were used, besides the quasi-experimental approach. The study population consisted of all the children of Surra Modern Kindergarten, and the number of kindergarten children reached )120( boys and girls, according to the kindergarten’s licensing certificate in the year 2023/2024, while the sample consisted of )16( boys and girls, who were selected in the available method, They were divided into two groups; the experimental of )8( children and the control of )8( children, and measures of communication skills and social shyness were also used, which The results of verifying its validity and reliability indicated its validity and suitability to achieve the objectives of the study. The study found that there were statistically significant differences between the averages of the experimental group’s performance on the pre-test and the post-test of communication skills among kindergarten children, which indicates the effectiveness of the guidance program used and its ability to influence group members. The results also showed the absence of statistically significant differences between the average results of the experimental group in the two, the post-measurement and follow-up, for the communication skills after a month of ending this program. In light of the results, the researcher recommended working on communication skills by applying the guidance program based on expressive activities to members of the control group due to its proven effectiveness in improving communication skills and reducing social shyness, and adopting collective guidance programs that care for children and have them officially approved by the Ministry of Education, provided that the activities are Expressiveness is an essential therapeutic and counseling tool for reducing social shyness and improving communication skills among kindergarten children in Palestine, and developing current kindergarten curricula and programs by adding some activities that address social communication skills.
